PhD Defense : Johann LEBLANC

Johann LEBLANC, PhD student in CEISAM SYMBIOSE team, will defend his thesis entitled “Synthesis of new non-aromatic nitrogenous heterocycles of the amidrazone type and study of their reactivities” on January 18th 2022 at 14h in CEISAM’s conference room “Marie Curie”.

Abstract

Nitrogen heterocycles are omnipresent as essential building blocks of lots of chemical compounds in living organisms. In medicinal chemistry, their predominance reflects the challenge of developing innovative synthesis strategies in order to expand the diversity of Nheterocyclic compounds in the chemical space and for instance, improving the biological activity of drugs. The 1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-1,2,4-triazines, or cyclic amidrazones, have not been explored much until today.First of all, the aims of this research work consist in developing and optimising the synthesis of cyclic amidrazones, and subsequently studying their reactivity through various reactions such as alkylation reactions, acylations or metallocatalysed cross coupling reactions. Finally, these results allow access to new cyclic amidrazones and to versatile functionalisation of each of their positions.
