CEISAM calls for application for a CNRS junior professor position

The CEISAM Institute in Nantes (France) invites applications for a CNRS junior Professor position (tenure track) in experimental molecular chemistry. This position targets disruptive aspects of analytical, organic, and/or physical chemistry. Candidates will propose a research project that transcends the frontiers within the disciplines of molecular chemistry. Possible research areas include operando analysis, “digital” chemistry, and/or automated synthesis.

The CEISAM Institute (https://ceisam.univ-nantes.fr/en/) encompasses all the molecular chemistry research activities in Nantes University and its surroundings. Research projects are deployed in some strategic interfaces, including “Chemistry 4.0” and chemical transformations monitoring. The CEISAM institute hosts several prestigious European research projects (e.g. ERC, JPI, MSCA) in analytical and theoretical chemistry at the moment. The originality and quality of molecular chemistry developments allowed the Institute to lead and participate in numerous national and international projects and to develop and secure long-lasting partnerships with a wide range of socio-economic players. CNRS, Nantes Université, and the CEISAM Institute are committed to building a community of inclusive excellence, where researchers are dedicated to working in a multi-disciplinary environment.

The anticipated start-date is September 2022 or later. The initial appointment is for 3-5 years, leading to a tenured position (Directeur de Recherche CNRS) after examination. The position comes with a specific start-up package coming to implement a cutting-edge research project. The CEISAM laboratory will provide access to state-of-the-art facilities for chemical synthesis as well as and analytical methods (https://ceisam.univ-nantes.fr/en/equipment/). The lab also provides significant support to apply to regional, national and international funding sources.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in chemistry, physics, or engineering, with a strong interest in the application of digital science to chemical reactions and their analysis. Candidates should demonstrate an excellent international track record of accomplishments. At the junior professor level, commitment to teaching (ca. 40 h/y in English) and the ability to lead a research group are expected.

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a complete list of publications together with a commented list of 10 major research output (publications, code, etc) and a statement of future breakthrough research in line with the general principles outlined above. The letter of application should be addressed to the Director of CEISAM, Prof. Dr. Jean-Michel Bouler. The closing date for applications is 31/05/2022. CEISAM is an equal opportunity employer, striving to increase the number of women professors.
