Documents and teaching materials provided by CEISAM members
Inspired by the “5 Minutes with Lebesgue” series at the Henri Lebesgue Center (link <https://www.lebesgue.fr/en/5min>), members of the CEISAM laboratory are taking up the challenge of making a topic of their choice accessible to everyone in about 8 minutes. Held monthly and open to the entire lab, these presentations are followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
Some of these presentations have been recorded and can be viewed below:
«O’Tablo: Chemistry and Vectorology—a Perfect Match!»
Conceived and designed by: Mathieu Mével, David Deniaud, Mohammed Bouzelha, Sébastien Gouin, Karine Pavageau, Dimitri Alvarez-Dorta, Roxane Peumery, Mathieu Scalabrini, Denis Loquet, Héloïse Delépée, and Sarah Renault"
With support from the Scientific Culture Outreach Initiative at the University of Nantes, members of the TarGET and CEISAM laboratories presented their innovative research project in layman’s terms on a large blackboard.

The FUTURE through CHEMISTRY: 4 Research Projects from the CEISAM Laboratory
In June 2022, science videographer Gauthier Delplace—the winner of the call for projects launched by the University of Nantes as part of the second edition of VidéoLabo—visited the CEISAM laboratory to immerse himself in the research being conducted there.
From photochromic dyes to NMR spectroscopy, bio-asphalt, and astatine for radiation therapy, this video highlights four of the lab’s flagship projects and explains them in a way that is accessible to the general public.

Smartcat: Algorithms for Continuous-Flow Chemistry
An educational short film created by François-Xavier Felpin and the Audiovisual and Multimedia Department at the University of Nantes as part of the SmartCat project, funded by the Pays de la Loire Region. This short film is intended for a broad audience and does not require extensive prior knowledge of chemistry.
UED L2: From Anticancer Drugs to Nonstick Coatings
The Fruit of Observation: “Does chance favor only the prepared mind?” How were penicillin, taxol, aspirin, Teflon, sweeteners like saccharin and aspartame, nylon, and more recently Kevlar—and even Viagra—discovered? Beyond chance observations and their exploitation lies a scientific process, the formulation of a project, and the development of a product. And behind all of this are issues such as industrial protection and patents…
