Double helicene dye with interesting optical properties

In the framework of a collaboration with the Gryko’s group and several other European teams, the ModES team has published a paper reporting a series of new double helicene with very valuable chiro-optical signatures. In more details, centrosymmetric N,B-doped nanographenes with strong green emission and notable circularly polarized luminescence were obtained. The developed approach involving the B←N bond formation and a convergent coupling approach, enables access to complex double helicenes with tunable photophysical properties. The calculations of the ModES team performed with both TD-DFT and post-HF methods allowed the rationalization of the optical signatures, showing unusual excited-state properties for such systems.
