Les Utopiales, international science fiction festival, will hold its 27th edition from October 29 to November 1, 2026, at the Cité des Congrès, with the theme “Perspectives.” Each year, this festival brings together authors, scientists, creators and artists to explore both the scientific and fictional aspects of science fiction. CEISAM will have a booth on Friday, October 30 (9 a.m.–11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.– 6 p.m.) as well as on Sunday, November 1 (9 a.m.–11 a.m. and 3 p.m.–5 p.m.) to discuss chirality.
Chirality: The property of an object (or an arrangement of atoms) that cannot be superimposed onto its mirror image.
By definition, a chiral molecule consists of a pair of molecules that are mirror images of each other but cannot be superimposed (called enantiomers). These molecules might appear identical and differ only depending on the observer’s point of view or perspective. In reality, two enantiomeric molecules can have vastly different properties, ranging from a simple change in odor to very different physiological effects.
