Scientific Days 2025

The 18th edition of the Journées Scientifiques organized by Nantes Université will take place on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at La Cité des Congrès in Nantes.

Nantes Université’s Journées Scientifiques (JS) are one of the major events promoting the university’s research activities in the region. Since 2008, they have welcomed over 18,000 delegates from a wide variety of backgrounds, including 10% from abroad.Researchers are invited to present their various themes at the symposia, with the aim of :

  • promote the research activities of Nantes Université and its players, across all disciplines,
  • encourage exchanges and sharing between researchers, to foster the emergence of projects exploring new fields of research in line with tomorrow’s challenges.

Antivirals: Small molecules, big effects!

The fight against emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases has once again become a public health priority. The health crisis associated with the Covid-19 pandemic remains a powerful illustration of the impact of these diseases not only on health, but also on society and the economy. The diversity of viruses and their ability to evolve rapidly, and the absence of antiviral treatments for many existing viruses (Dengue, yellow fever, etc.), require sustained research into new antiviral treatments, particularly small molecules whose potential is no longer in doubt. The risk of the emergence of viruses resistant to current treatments also requires the identification and study of several therapeutic targets for the same virus. Molecular design via modeling and chemical synthesis of molecules, as well as their biological evaluation on selected viral targets, are essential steps in the discovery of innovative treatments for viral infections, and involve targeted, multidisciplinary approaches at the interface of chemistry and biology. This one-day event will bring together academic members and private partners from these scientific communities to share recent advances in this field and strengthen national collaborations.
