Clémence Queffelec awarded the ARKEMA Prize from the Academy of Sciences

Clémence Queffelec, Senior Lecturer at Nantes University, at the Laboratory “Chemistry and Interdisciplinarity: Synthesis, Analysis, Modelling” (CEISAM), has been awarded the ARKEMA Prize by the French Academy of Sciences.

The prize (€25,000), created in 2021, rewards decisive scientific advances in the development, characterisation, understanding or implementation of sustainable materials, i.e. materials whose life cycle and use lead to an environmental benefit compared to existing materials. These benefits could relate, for example and without limitation, to bio-resources, recycling, and the use of efficient and lightweight materials in the fields of renewable energy, construction and sustainable mobility. By encouraging research into these topics, the prize highlights the essential contribution of chemistry to a low-carbon economy.

Clémence Queffelec’s research focuses on processes for converting biomass, agri-food and industrial waste into alternative materials, particularly for applications in road surfacing. At the same time, she is exploring the use of light as an energy source to activate ambitious chemical reactions.

Congratulations Clémence!
