On the occasion of O’Tablo (a scientific event by Nantes Université), researchers from the CEISAM and TaRGeT laboratories illustrated how chemistry can enhance AAV viral vectors used in gene therapy. By finely modifying their surface with targeting molecules, it becomes possible to more precisely address specific tissues such as the retina or the brain. These innovative approaches increase treatment efficacy while reducing doses and side effects. A fine demonstration of the power of collaboration between chemists and biologists.
